New Opportunities - alexis driscoll, moderation, name, needs, needs, identification

Sometimes you don’t even know where to start looking. Where will the revenues come from? What if you want revenue sources beyond revisions and enhancements to your current line. You want new revenue to grow your business and offset the decline of mature products.

But when stepping outside of familiar terrain, you may not even know where to look for ideas. Where do your capabilities give you the most leverage?

First get your bearings. Start by finding out what’s new and what’s emerging - in market trends, in technology, in the global environment. Which trends matter and which ones are passing fads? What technologies are on the horizon? Then ask yourself "which opportunities fit us?"

Description of Services

Identify attractive and appropriate opportunities in which to seek product/service ideas.

An engagement might include some or all of the following. Either working with your team or offline:

  • Ask the experts. Interviews with experts and thought leaders in your industry whose business it is to know where you’re heading from the market, technology and overall business standpoint.
  • Parallel industries. Is your industry going through a significant change? Look for other industries that have weathered the same or similar change and learn the best practices that experience taught them.
  • Trend leverage. Trends create unmet needs. But which ones? And how? Analyze trends in your market and your industry to understand the impact on your business.

Outcome

+ A prioritized set of market or technology opportunities around which to build a new product/service exploration.
